First thing is first -- let me say that I'm not mad at you if you choose to make your blog private -- I'm sure you have reasons. I guess I am just uneducated. I'm asking this sincerely, not in a sarcastic or condescending way -- what exactly am I supposed to be afraid of? What happened that made everyone "go private" all of a sudden?
I just scrolled through my blog to see if I had any distinguishing information listed -- from what I could tell, this is what can be gathered about me:
-my first name is probably something close to "racharooo" or "the rachinator"
-I'm a dietitian at a veteran's hospital (probably the most specific info on my blog)
-I spend time in New Jersey and Manhattan
-I am pregnant
-I drive a white car
I don't see my full name, address, birth date, ssn, blood-type, insurance information, or bank account and pin number listed anywhere so I can only assume I am safe.
PLEASE...I'm begging people to enlighten me as to why these things need a lock and key. I am sincerely interested in learning what I am up against here. Any horror stories?

amen!!!!!
aaron and I keep asking the SAME thing!!!
well, unless you hear something CRAZY and SCARY really soon, you're not going to see us going "private" any time soon.
gracias for asking this question.
hey, remember how you are having a baby?
oh, i know. crazy!! i love it!
how's it going?
I actually hate the private thing, too. But, if you scroll down my blog, you'll find alot more info. And I'm not really worried about any stalkers, I actually like the thought of somebody finding my blog and thinking that what I have to say is interesting. However, I have decided that I want to know who is reading. No horror stories--but there is alot of buzz around these parts lately about the "dangers" of blogging. Seems like it's on the news every day. Mostly, I just want a change. The blogging world is kind of boring me lately, so I thought I'd shake things up a bit. Who knows, in a month or so I may make it public again. Speaking of annoying blogging things--why the word verification?
Oh, and mostly I just wanted a good reason to be able to play my favorite Enrique song. "Do you know what it feels like to be the last one to know the lock on the door is changed"...
I got threatened with a lawsuit for libel. It was a misunderstanding, but there are a lot of people that don't get it. I think Norm knows the story if you want further details. I agree with you. I don't blame people for having private blogs, I blame the morons that have a bunch of links to private blogs for ruining everything and eating all of our steak.
I got an email from someone saying some things that seemed a little too personal about me and I suddenly realized that there was just a little too much information out there about me. I, however, haven't been as careful about what I have written and in many cases people have our last name and our first name written on their blogs...not sure if that matters or not, but the information is out there. I agree that private blogs stink and thus thats why since the post I haven't gone private. But I feel like I need to be a little more general about our goings and comings or go private. I am hoping I can go through our blog and get rid of posts that are too personal and then keep it open and just be less specific. :)
rach, i can tell ya whats going on...so you pretty much have people with blogs who think that someone out there cares enough about them to one day use some sort of crazy technology (like a phone book) to track them down, see them in real life, and then ruin their credit.
rachel, this is aaron. i just wanted to say thank you for your question. i really want to hear specific details from someone somewhere about the bad things that happen.
why the word word verification?
