Hi, my name is Rachael and I am a blog stalker. Normally I wouldn't bring this up because it is embarrassing, but I am seeing a sharp increase in the number of "private" blogs and this is bumming me out. It's really putting a damper on my down-time at work. For you "privates" -- haven't you ever been on a friend's blog, clicked on someone you know from their links list again and again until you found yourself on a long-lost whoever's page? It's thrilling -- try it if you haven't. It's better than People magazine.
You may be arguing, "well if you know them anyway, then it doesn't matter if their blog is private because they can put you on their 'list'. " This is the delicate part. These exciting blog-discoveries tend to be those of acquaintences, former peers, or just people I gawked at in high school (their blog gives me to opportunity to continue to gawk). It's a lot less creepy than it sounds because while we aren't close friends, they could probably pick me out of a line-up.
So I say DOWN WITH PRIVATE BLOGS!!! Anyone with me?

Rach you crack me up!! For a second there I thought you were about to tell me that you were going private too! I want to know why people go private. What are all these scary stories that people hear that cause them to go private! But I'm with ya. It is sure funny how one blog can lead ya from another to another.. its an addiction I tell ya!
Fellow blog stalker. I called you out on my blog and you didn't comment. What's wrong with you? Also, I agree that private blogs are silly. If you have a great reason {ie some scary experience or blog stalker showing up on your doorstep} then fine, but I don't know anybody who has...

That is awesome!! I completely agree. I don't think there is anything wrong with blogstocking those from highschool. I hate hate hate when I read the "we're going private" blog.

The private blogs are usually the nudists....
Or- people with babies
or nudist with babies...
I know exactly what you mean. I happened to be gawking at someone's site, and the next time I went it was private....embarrassing.

I feel compelled to leave a comment on your blog, b/c I am a blog grazer (as I prefer to call myself) I too get down time at work and have to find something to read. I hope you don’t mind. I am an addict and I need my fix private blog really throw me off.
